Upcycled Notebook

(C) Faye Hodge

Hi, I am Faye from Faye Dodges Zombies and I am thrilled to share my DIY Notebook Tutorial with you today. This craft is easy to make and will help you keep your great ideas organized.

1.Gather your supplies.

*You will also need something to use for the cover and either laminating sheets or Mod Podge, if you want to make the cover more durable.

2. Decide what size notebook you want.

I used 4 x 6 inch note cards and cut the graph paper and yellow paper to match.

3. Make your cover.

Be creative and have fun with this step. You can use craft paper, postcards, the inside of an envelope, an old map, sheet music or any paper scraps you have lying around.

Here are a couple that I made:

4. Assemble your notebook.

Use your two hole punch to punch holes in your cover, the index card tabs and the paper for the inside of your notebook. Most two hole punches have a guide bar on the side that you can use to make sure you are punching the holes in the same place on everything.

Put your notebook together using the metal book rings. I used 1/2 inch metal book rings but if your notebook is larger I would suggest using 1inch or 1 1/2 inch metal book rings.

5. Customize your notebook.

I used the index card tabs to separate the different types of paper. Add reinforcements to the index card tabs to make them more durable.

Next, I put the adhesive pocket on the inside of the back cover, added the library card pocket to the middle tab and decorated my notebook with Japanese masking tape and stickers.

Have fun with this step but make sure it is functional.

I carry my little notebook with me at all times in my purse just in case I need to make a to-do list or write down a great idea.

Enjoy!

Faye, sure knows how to make journal writing or any other writing you want to do a little more fun! Do you know someone who loves journal writing, list making, or even doodling? These would make great gifts!
